My practice originates from visual and perceptual experiences. I am interested in how qualities of light, weather, times of day and the seasons often resonate with my imagination about particular places in nature. I paint to capture impressions or to express a feeling associated with a place. I create installations that mimic natural phenomenon, which allows me to experiment with atmosphere and imagery. I am currently experimenting with photographic lightbox sculptures that further blur the lines between direct experience and the landscapes we imagine.
During my residency at Platform Arts I have benefited from the creative and critical environment here to focus and refine my practice.
