he idea of collaboration is problematic and often one side has to yield to the other. But when one side is more decisive in a project can it still be rightfully called collaboration? Some say that collaborations need leadership. Is this true? Or is it possible to collaborate in a completely non-authoritative, equal way and still manage to reach your goal?

You are invited to Platform Arts on the October 28th at 7 pm to watch a performance where a sketch for a collaboration monument will be created. The artists, Ámundason & Nimar, will be nowhere to be seen. They will be in different rooms, in different countries, separately controlling the making of the sketch by giving live orders to Karen and Claire Gibson. Karen and Claire will have headphones on, in one ear they’ll be receiving information from Nimar, and in the other information from Ámundason on what to draw. They might get orders like: “Draw a triangle on the left side of the big form.” or “Erase the S-shape in the right side of the paper”. Sometimes different orders will being given by the artists simultaneously, in this case Karen and Claire have to mediate and become physical embodiments of Ámundason and Nimar’s collaboration.
This performance will serve as a foundation for an upcoming show by Örn Alexander Ámundason and Olof Nimar at Platform Arts in April, 2015.
