The Freedom of Platform | Call for submissions

Posted on Apr 18, 2017

To honour our artistic community in 2017 Platform Arts is inviting artists living in Northern Ireland to present “the Freedom of Platform”. When an individual is granted the ‘Freedom’ of a city, it is a recognition of their importance and contribution to the development of their community.

This year the entrance and main stairwell of Platform’s building will be similarly dedicated to our community of artists.

What to submit:
We are looking for two-dimensional, paper-based works (max size A3) that deal with concepts of social transformation. For example, if your work explores civic pride, collective consciousness, or socialisation within the context of Northern Ireland, we want to exhibit it.

There are no other limitations on the content; drawings, paintings, prints, and photographs are all encouraged and accepted.

Further Info:
Since the project is site specific, and year-long, please do not submit your originals unless you are OK with not getting them back. We will only accept up to 2 pieces per artist.

Make sure to clearly mark your name and send supporting information to us so that we can credit you on the project page: platformartsbelfast.com/freedom-of-platform/

How to submit:
This project is not taking digital submissions, only printed work. The pieces can be sent to Platform by post, or delivered in person (please check our opening hours). Our address:

Platform Arts Belfast
1 Queen St
Belfast
BT1 6EA

When to submit:
Now and until the 1st December 2017. There is no other deadline. This ongoing project will be available for view during our regular opening hours and events.
